After the Storm!

FROM THE PUBLISHER
-----------------------------------------------

Last Friday's newsletter was my sounding board for my
desperate thoughts and worries. My laptop had been struck,
frozen. I didn't know if it would ever recover. I read
nightmare stories online about motherboard failures. How
could I ever replace this crucial tool for my business? Not
to mention I had just recently started to get ultra
organized—my whole life was on that computer!

I did exactly what I said in last week's newsletter.
Through it all God and His angels calmed me and gave me a
quiet confidence.

I asked for prayer. I received positive feedback on my
website and my work. Oh how that helped! And friends did
pray, as did I. But I let the worry go as much as I could.

I worked on long-overdue projects. At least those dreaded
tasks no longer burden me!

I finalized a little baby step that helps with my goals. It
wasn't easy, but I got it done. As with so many things in
my life, I do not see the final result, but I trust that
someday I will!

And finally, that night, I did dive under the covers and I
used the weekend to rest and play.

Tuesday I took my iBook in and while Christian music played
in the background, my trusted computer guru looked at the
computer.

And the verdict was—

good.

At least, it wasn't the dreaded motherboard malfunction.
Just software which was easily fixed, at least for him! I
have not lost much on the computer, but as I remember one
frantic e-mail to my sister to ask for prayer, I remember,

I still have to back up my files!

But through it all, God comforted me and He brought me out
of the mess. I was able to reach out and ask for prayer and
angels—in the guise of my friends and family—brought me
comfort.

Now I face another crisis and a huge decision regarding my
child's schooling. I will follow the same path. I am
praying, reaching out, learning to trust, learning how to
open my heart and be vulnerable.

That's when angels have their chance to take flight!

ANGEL TIPS
------------------------------------------

Top 10 Ways to Be An Angel To Someone In Crisis:

1) Listen, listen, listen! Be quiet!
2) Give her a hug!
3) Say, "I'm sad for you," or "So sorry."
4) Don't try to fix her.
5) Offer to pray for him right then.
6) If you promise to pray later, do it sooner or later so
you won't forget!
7) Send a card or note of encouragement.
8) Offer to take care of something that needs to be
done—watch her children or go to the store for her or wash
her dishes.
9) Go to a movie with her—either a comedy so you can laugh
or a tearjerker so you can help your friend shed cathartic
tears.
10) Go for a walk with him.

Top 10 Ways to Ask for Angels When You're in a Crisis:

1) Spend time with Jesus. Pray. Read the Psalms. Surrender
your troubles at His feet. Give your burdens to Him.
2) Ask others for prayer. Your spouse, your chidren, your
parents, your siblings, your friends, your fellow church
members, on message boards, on online communities.
3) Refocus. If something's not working, draw back and do
something else.
4) Take a walk. Get some sunshine.
5) Ask a friend to see a funny movie with you or go see a
tearjerker movie and let the cathartic tears come!
6) Get to bed early.
7) Take a hot bath.
8) Journal. Write down your fears, your hopes, your dreams,
your struggles.
9) Start sharing. Find someone you trust and ask if you can
talk, that you need a friend. Ask for a hug.
10) Be honest about what's troubling you. Confront your
fears. Give yourself positive self-talk, write your
thoughts down before you talk it over with a key figure in
your life like a spouse or pastor or co-worker. Rehearse
your conversation with a friend beforehand if you are not
confident about confronting the person with whom you are
having a conflict.
